TRCP in Your Region The West

From the sagebrush sea to the Colorado Plateau and the alpine ranges of the Rockies, the West is defined by its vast public lands and the extraordinary hunting and fishing they sustain. Mule deer, pronghorn, elk, and bighorn sheep roam landscapes managed for multiple uses, while cutthroat trout occupy some of the most pristine river systems remaining in the Lower 48. This is a land of open horizons, big skies, and the kind of hunting and fishing opportunities that exist nowhere else on earth.

What you can do

Taking action on West issues

Defending public lands, shaping multi-agency planning efforts, conserving big game migration corridors, and improving coldwater fisheries of the West are efforts at the core of TRCP's work in the region. We engage the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, and state wildlife agencies to ensure that energy development, grazing, recreation, and other uses are managed in ways that maintain habitat for elk, mule deer, and trout. But we cannot do this work alone — select an issue below to get involved.

Chronic Wasting Disease

CWD has spread rapidly among wild deer and elk populations, particularly in the last ten years, and it threatens the very future of conservation funding in America.

Take Action

Nature Based Solutions

Healthy habitat can help to slow and reverse the effects of climate change, making the push for conservation and restoration more relevant than ever. Sportsmen and sportswomen are essential to securing these solutions.

Take Action

Wildlife Corridors

Modern technology has advanced our understanding of how big game uses migration routes, and conservation policy should incorporate recent research.

Boots on the Ground

We hire experts who live, work, hunt, and fish in these important landscapes. Our state-based staff intimately understand the issues affecting fish and wildlife habitats across the West. Meet our team below.
