TRCP in Your Region The Northeast

From the wild rivers of Maine to the tidal marshes of Long Island Sound, the Northeast offers hunting and fishing experiences as diverse as its landscape. Brook trout in cold headwater streams, Atlantic salmon in storied rivers, striped bass along a thousand miles of coastline, and deer and wild turkeys in forests that stretch from the Adirondacks and Green Mountains to the Appalachians — this region is far more than its population density might suggest. Here, conservation is both a proud tradition and an urgent necessity, as development pressure and habitat fragmentation threaten fish and wildlife that have defined Northeastern outdoor culture for generations.

Taking action on Northeast issues

What you can do

We advocate for sustainable management of Atlantic striped bass, the forage fish they and other sportfish depend on, and other migratory species, and ensure that hunters and anglers have access to well-managed forests, wetlands, and waters that make this region special. From the Maine woods to Long Island Sound, the TRCP fights to keep the Northeast’s outdoor traditions alive and its fish and wildlife populations healthy.

But we cannot do this work alone — select an issue below to get involved.
