Wednesday, July 16
11:00 – Introductions and welcoming remarks
TRCP CEO Joel Pedersen and TRCP Fisheries and Mississippi River Program Director Chris Macaluso.
11:15 – Angling and Fisheries Conservation Priorities for the Second Trump Administration and the 119th Congress
Fisheries policy experts from the American Sportfishing Association, TRCP, Center for Sportfishing Policy, and others will discuss fisheries management and conservation policies and legislation they are working to advance over the course of the next year and beyond.
11:45 – VIDEO PREMIER: “Steel to Sanctuary: The Rigs to Reef Story” produced by Arena Energy in cooperation with Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation
This 30-minute documentary showcases the remarkable habitat provided by energy producing platforms off the Gulf Coast states and elsewhere and the need to protect this habitat from being removed from coastal waters.
12:15 – Helping Fish Stocks Recover through Stock Enhancement
A panel of fish hatchery experts and supporters from the tackle industry and conservation groups will highlight the successes and discuss the limitations of efforts to help improve fish stocks in the Gulf, California, and beyond through introduction of hatchery-born fish.
1:00 – Fixing Data Collection to Improve Fishing Access
Poor data on fishing effort and harvest is a major limiting factor in setting consistent fishing seasons and managing some of the nation’s most valued fish stocks. A panel of data collection experts will discuss technological advances and the use of “citizen science” to help narrow the gaps in state and federal data collection on recreational fishing.
