TRCP in Your Region The Mid-Atlantic

From the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay and Long Island to the ridge-and-valley forests of the Appalachians, the Mid-Atlantic is a region of extraordinary ecological diversity. Striped bass, bluefish, and tuna draw saltwater anglers to the coast, while whitetail deer, wild turkeys, and ruffed grouse offer world-class hunting inland. The region’s rivers and estuaries also support migratory waterfowl that travel the length of the Atlantic Flyway, making healthy habitat here essential for hunters and anglers far beyond the region’s borders.

The Mid-Atlantic faces mounting pressure from degraded water quality, industrial fishing, development, and aging infrastructure that affects the flows and health of its rivers and coastal waters. The TRCP works to restore habitat in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, advocate for responsible management of Atlantic migratory fish, and enhance water quality improvements and protections for the region’s trout species.
