THERE’S STILL TIME TO TELL SEC. ZINKE THAT HUNTERS AND ANGLERS VALUE NATIONAL MONUMENTS.
No president of the modern era has ever attempted to significantly alter the boundaries of a national monument, and executive branch actions to reverse or otherwise undermine a single monument would jeopardize the future of all monuments, including those that are important to the hunting and fishing community.
An Executive Order signed by President Trump required a DOI review of 27 different national monuments (22 of which allow hunting and fishing) covering 11.3 million acres. That review has been completed, and Secretary Zinke will deliver a report to President Trump on August 24. Let’s not allow this monumental decision to set a dangerous precedent for public lands — your action is needed today to protect this legacy.
