TRCP Community: TRCP Sportsman Values Mapping Project

Wyoming

The SVMP works to ensure that sportsmen are represented in management decisions that could affect where and how they pursue their passions.

In 2008 the TRCP received funding to support the SVMP in Wyoming. TRCP staff members have spent several years planning the project and travelling throughout the Cowboy State, seeking input from local hunters and anglers. Thanks to the participation of hundreds of Wyoming sportsmen, the first draft of the Wyoming SVMP map has been digitized into GIS format and will be available in the near future as a layer of data to complement other maps such as the Wyoming Game & Fish Department’s crucial habitat maps. TRCP staff will continue to collect data from sportsmen across the state throughout the summer of 2012. This information will be included in future versions of the Wyoming Sportsmen Values Maps.

For more information on the Wyoming SVMP, contact Neil Thagard, TRCP’s Western outreach director.
