TRCP in Your Region The Gulf

From the barrier islands of South Texas to the wetlands of Louisiana and the Everglades’ emerald waters and “River of Grass,” the Gulf region is one of America’s most productive — and most vulnerable — fish and wildlife landscapes. Redfish, speckled trout, and tarpon draw anglers from across the country, while world-class duck hunting in coastal marshes and waterfowl-rich river deltas has defined a way of life for generations. This is a region where hunting and fishing culture runs deep, and where the health of local waters and wetlands is inseparable from the quality of life for the people who call it home.

The Gulf Coast faces some of the most pressing conservation challenges in the nation. The TRCP works to conserve and restore Gulf Coast wetlands and the Everglades, improve freshwater flows into coastal estuaries, safeguard sportfish food sources and habitat, and ensure that hunters and anglers have a seat at the table when federal and state agencies make decisions that affect these resources.
