TRCP Media Summits have become go-to events for outdoor, mainstream, and multimedia journalists to engage with experts on the front lines of conservation. Presentations and field tours led by elected officials, policy influencers, and sportsmen’s community leaders make for compelling content, while recreational outings—including hunting, fishing, and shooting excursions—offer unparalleled opportunities for informal networking.
Our first Western Media Summit was held in 2003 as a way to better inform and engage members of the media on the conservation policy issues most important to hunters and anglers. Since that time, three-day Western Media Summits have been held in Montana, Colorado, and North Dakota. Past media attendees represent a range of top-tier national publications, from The Washington Post and Forbes to Field & Stream and Outside magazine, as well as many regional publications and radio productions.
In 2011, the TRCP introduced the Saltwater Media Summit to place a greater focus on marine fisheries management and restoration initiatives in the Gulf of Mexico. Our goal is to break news and provide journalists with access to top policy experts and grassroots conservation champions, while highlighting the economic power of recreational fishing in America. The Saltwater Media Summit has most recently been held in conjunction with ICAST, the world’s largest sportfishing trade show.
