Nick Payne grew up in Wisconsin as an avid musky hunter and animal tracker. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in fisheries, wildlife and conservation biology and has participated extensively in vertebrate surveying and research in various locations throughout the country. After working on several academic field research projects regarding a plethora of critters, most recently the Indiana bat, through the University of Missouri, he joined the TRCP staff in 2009 and has called Colorado home ever since.
He has worked on sportsman-conservation issues throughout the state and has substantial grassroots organizing experience in hunting, fishing and conservation. Through his experience organizing in Colorado he is grateful to have become intimately familiar with Colorado’s amazing public lands.
