The Orvis Company Announces New Clothing Line to Benefit Conservation Group Portion of proceeds from the Roosevelt Collection to benefit the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership MANCHESTER, VERMONT - Sportsmen can head into the field this fall in the same style that once distinguished Theodore Roosevelt. The Orvis Company, a sporting tradition for 150 years, and the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP), a coalition of hunting, fishing and conservation organizations, this month unveiled a new line of clothes inspired by those that Theodore Roosevelt once wore in search of adventure.
The line of Roosevelt-inspired clothing, which is profiled in the Orvis catalog and can be seen at www.orvis.com/roosevelt, seeks to embody the former Rough Rider’s flair. It is also designed to meet the same demands for functionality that T.R. placed on his gear.
Orvis will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the clothing line to support the work of the TRCP to guarantee all Americans places to hunt and fish. “Teaming our efforts to better conserve the country’s fish and wildlife resources and preserve our American hunting and fishing heritage makes sense for both Orvis and the TRCP,” said David Perkins, Orvis Executive Vice President and TRCP Board Member. “We both know the power of partnerships and that we stand to make a bigger impact if non-profit organizations and businesses can work together towards common goals.” “Working with a company that represents the epitome of excellence in the outdoor business world expands our reach and our prospects for fulfilling our mission,” said Matthew B. Connolly Jr., TRCP President and CEO. “We’re happy to do what we can to aid effective fish and wildlife conservation efforts,” Perkins added. “As it strives to extend Theodore Roosevelt’s conservation legacy, the TRCP continually looks toward one the most important leaders in America’s history for guidance. Orvis approaches its craft similarly – creating products that are reflective of our customers’ lifestyles while being always mindful of the high standards set by our history.” Founded in 1856, Orvis pioneered the mail order industry in the United States, operates a chain of retail stores in the U.S. and England including its Flagship store in Manchester, VT; and maintains a network of over 400 dealers worldwide. Orvis donates five percent of pre-tax profits each year to environmental programs. You can read more about Orvis on their website at www.orvis.com. *** The Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership is a coalition of leading conservation organizations and individual grassroots partners, working together to conserve fish and wildlife and their habitat, increase funding for conservation and management, and expand access to places to hunt and fish. |
