The 2003 Shot Show, held recently in Orlando Florida, is a hunting and shooting enthusiast extravaganza like none other. The annual event, covering 500,000 feet of exhibitor floor place, brings together over 3,000 exhibitors and 30,000 hunting and shooting retailers from around the world to display their wares and make their best deal. It is capitalism at its very best and the outdoor media flock to the event each year to get the scoop on the latest and most advanced guns, gear and gadgets the industry has to offer.

What better venue to introduce the TRCP and our mission of "Guaranteeing You a Place to Hunt and Fish" to the media and outdoor industry than the Shot Show? To take advantage of this exceptional opportunity the TRCP constructed a high tech, visually bold display booth to showcase our organization and its unique mission.

Anyone who stopped in or was just casually passing by the booth went away knowing that the TRCP is "the one' hunting and fishing organization in America solely dedicated to "Guaranteeing You a Place to Hunt and Fish."

The TRCP’s "Guaranteeing You a Place to Hunt and Fish" message was a clear winner with the media, retailers and industry executives and naturally generated the response, "How can your organization do that?" From there the door was open and their ears were attuned to listen to our well-rehearsed pitch:

The TRCP is committed to "Guaranteeing You a Place to Hunt and Fish" by actively engaging America's 40 million hunters and anglers to make sure our public and private lands always:

  • Remain open and accessible
  • Continue to be scientifically managed for abundant fish and wildlife populations
  • Provide a lifetime of hunting and fishing opportunities for generations to come

In addition to the booth, the TRCP gained exposure by hosting a "Meet the TRCP" breakfast and press conference held on Friday morning. The breakfast was well attended by more than 50 outdoor reporters, publications, and media outlets including Outdoor Life, ESPN Outdoors, Field and Stream, and the North American Hunter and Fisherman.

Chairman Jim Range and members of the TRCP Board of Directors addressed the breakfast and fielded questions from the press. Jim encouraged the media to join the TRCP and help spread the word to America’s hunters and anglers that the future of hunting and fishing depends, in large part, on our ability to effectively make our voices heard in Washington DC and in statehouse’s across this country.

He went on to say, "The TRCP is a new and fundamentally different conservation organization dedicated to bringing together unprecedented advocacy, communications and grassroots efforts to achieve conservation victories for America’s sportsmen and women and thereby guaranteeing us all a place to hunt and fish.

TRCP board members Rollie Sparrowe (WMI), Melinda Gable (Congressional Sportsman’s Foundation), Kenny Mendez (Trout Unlimited) and former NRA-ILA Executive Director Jim Baker joined Chairman Range in answering questions from the press concerning the mission and future initiatives of the TRCP. "I think the overwhelming media exposure and interest shown by the outdoor industry in the mission of the TRCP made the Shot Show an excellent investment of our time and money," Range said.
