New Season of TRCP’s Life in the Open Debuts Friday on VERSUS Network
Africa special launches second year of highly successful field sports program evoking Theodore Roosevelt’s conservation legacy
WASHINGTON – A new season of TRCP’s Life in the Open will begin this Friday, September 29 at 7 p.m. Eastern on the VERSUS network (formerly OLN) with a one-hour special in which host Ken Barrett and TRCP Chairman James Range trace the footsteps of Theodore Roosevelt and Ernest Hemingway on African safari.
A co-production of VERSUS, Orion Multimedia and the TRCP, TRCP’s Life in the Open will air this season every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Eastern and Friday at 7 p.m. Eastern.
TRCP's Life in the Open honors and celebrates T.R.'s conservation legacy, featuring his words and images while exploring many lands and waters he frequented or set aside for the benefit and use of America's citizens and its hunters and anglers.
Season two of TRCP’s Life In the Open also will take viewers to international locales, ranging from Africa to Argentina to Canada. The one-hour special airing Friday evening illustrates this well, as Barrett and Range not only pursue cape buffalo and kudu in hunts reminiscent of Hemingway’s Green Hills of Africa, they begin their safari by speaking with Patrick Hemingway, Ernest’s son, getting invaluable guidance from Patrick’s own days stalking African game.
“TRCP’s Life in the Open is a different animal in big herd of field sports shows,” says host Ken Barrett. “It emphasizes hunting and fishing's real trophies, our nation's hunting and fishing traditions and the privileges available to the average American sportsman.”
