Arizona Hunter Supports the TRCP, Wins Benelli Shotgun

Tricia Farrington won this Benelli Nova shotgun after signing up with the TRCP at the International Sportsmen’s Exhibition in Phoenix, Ariz. Photo courtesy of Tricia Farrington.

On a winter day in late February, Tricia Farrington of Phoenix, Ariz., strolled the aisles of the International Sportsmen’s Exhibition. Along with thousands of other outdoorsmen, she checked out fishing and hunting gear, guides and outfitters, and exhibits and seminars at the University of Phoenix stadium.

At the TRCP booth, Tricia joined both the TRCP  and Hunters and Anglers for Responsible Development,  the TRCP’s grassroots sportsmen’s campaign that works to maintain public-lands hunting and fishing opportunities. As a result, her name was entered into a special drawing to win a new Benelli Nova shotgun. When the winning ticket was drawn in May, Tricia became the proud owner of that Benelli shotgun!

Tricia started hunting 10 years ago and lives in the Arizona desert with her husband and daughters. Her three daughters enjoy hunting and join Tricia and her husband in the field from time to time. She enjoys hunting deer, elk, javelina, turkey and varmints and has high hopes for her new shotgun.

“With any luck, I will be using the new Benelli on a turkey this year! Thank you TRCP,” she said.

TRCP staff from the Center for Western Lands attended ISE shows in Salt Lake City and Phoenix this winter to spread the word about the TRCP and the HARD campaign. More than 600 new TRCP and HARD members joined our ranks to help conserve important fish and wildlife habitat and assure that sportsmen will always have a place to hunt and fish on our public lands.

The TRCP staff members were heartened by the positive comments and conversations with hunters and anglers at the shows. The sight of the TRCP logo seemed to stir deep convictions about conservation of fish and wildlife and public lands. Bill Geer and Joel Webster, who staffed the TRCP booth in Salt Lake City, were repeatedly welcomed back to ISE. Ben Brown, who worked the Phoenix show, was asked repeatedly if the TRCP would be adding staff to work in Arizona. The TRCP staff left energized and encouraged by the enthusiasm of their fellow sportsmen.

The TRCP congratulates Tricia Farrington and thanks her and the hundreds of other sportsmen who recently signed up to support our work on behalf of America’s public-lands hunting and fishing heritage.

Special thanks to Benelli Shotguns  for making the raffle possible and supporting the mission of the TRCP.
