F. Weldon Baird, Jamie Baker, John Doerr bring expertise, business acumen, passion to leadership of national sportsmen’s group.
WASHINGTON – The Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership announced today that F. Weldon Baird, Jamie Baker and John Doerr have joined the board of directors of the national sportsman-conservation group. The new directors bring a range of conservation policy and business experience to the TRCP board and its mission to guarantee every American a place to hunt and fish.
“The Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership stands to gain greatly from the skills and expertise that Weldon Baird, Jamie Baker and John Doerr bring to conservation policy issues of concern to America’s hunters and anglers,” said Katie Distler Eckman, chair of the TRCP board of directors. “Committed conservationists and avid sportsmen, each is dedicated to furthering the outdoors legacy that lies at the heart of the TRCP mission.”
F. Weldon Baird is managing partner of The Baird Group in Atlanta, Ga., where he specializes in the evaluation, design and implementation of executive benefit and estate planning insurance solutions. A native of Tennessee, Baird and his family have resided in Atlanta since 1979. He is board chair of The Trinity School of Atlanta, a member of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council and a former board member of Trout Unlimited. Baird is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hiking, hunting, biking and fly fishing, particularly in and around Bozeman, Mont.
Jamie Baker is the partner in charge of the Washington, D.C., office of Baker Botts LLP and serves on the law firm’s executive committee. His practice concentrates on both domestic and international commercial and trade-related matters and transactions. From 1982 to 1985, prior to joining Baker Botts, he served as counsel to the U.S. Senate majority leader. Baker is father to four daughters, and he and his wife enjoy hunting or fishing whenever and wherever they can manage.
John Doerr is president and CEO of Pure Fishing and serves on the Conservation Leaders Advisory Team of the Berkley Conservation Institute. Before joining Pure Fishing in 2006, Doerr held senior level roles in a number of global management and outdoors-focused companies, including Kurt Salmon Associates, Cobra Golf, Bell Sports and the Cannondale Bicycle Company. Married 23 years with three grown children, he enjoys fishing, hunting, tennis, golf and spending time with his family.
