TRCP Staff: Steve Belinda

Steve Belinda joined TRCP in February 2006 as the Energy Initiative Manager. He has spent the last 16 years working for the Bureau of Land Management and Forest Service as a wildlife specialist in Wyoming, New Mexico and Oregon. His most recent position was as the lead wildlife biologist for the Pinedale, Wyoming BLM office. Steve has worked on energy issues in both the Upper Green River Basin (Pinedale, WY) and the Permian Basin in Southeast New Mexico (Carlsbad, NM), where there is extensive development for oil and gas resources. Steve has experience dealing with impacts of energy development on a host of species, including mule deer, elk, pronghorn, sage-grouse, lesser prairie chickens, and other sensitive wildlife species. He has been involved in numerous stakeholder working groups developing strategic conservation plans to minimize impacts to wildlife habitats and populations.

Steve grew up in central Pennsylvania as one of six boys and spent most of his childhood in the outdoors with his brothers hunting and fishing. He earned a B. S. degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from the Pennsylvania State University and a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Wyoming. He has passions for chasing bull elk with a bow and fly-fishing. He has been married to his wife, Kate, for five years. They have one daughter, Zoe.
